Have you heard the term of ”Black Company”?

There are many Japanese companies in Singapore. Singaporeans who have worked at those companies might have felt bit weird because of its exploitative employment system. Those companies are called "black companies" or in Japanese, "burakku kigyou". This term is used to refer to an unacceptable exploitative employment system.

How is like working at a "Black Company"?

In a "Black Company", employees are working excessive hours with unpaid overtime work and have to put up with abusement of power and harassment of their seniors and employer. It is like an endurance contest.

Why Japanese work so hard and do not resign from their job?

In Japan, especially for freshman, to get a permanent job is high priority and once they lose a job, it becomes hard for them to get a new job. In most cases, they can only get contract or temporary jobs without bonus. Even if they can get a permanent job, their salary would be far lower than their previous job. Sometimes the people who change their jobs frequently are labeled as "socially unfit persons" in Japan.

Moreover, most of Japanese women are dreaming to be just a housewife; they know they would be exploited by the company once they got employed. As a result, once men get married, it becomes impossible to resign from their job since they have to feed their wife and if they have, children.

The Japanese government attempts to rectify this 'black company' problem but it's hard to get a realistic grasp of the abuse at black companies. The employees fear being layed off so they don't report the wrong doing of their company to public.

I have been wondering why ONLY Japanese companies have this kind of character; they cannot stop exploiting their employees.

Recently I have discovered the roots of "black companies". This is what I have to share especially to the people in asian countries. Maybe I will update it next time.
