NewsPicks - Cool News App
Being a Japanese who lives overseas, it's difficult for me to get the latest, hot news of Japan. Of course, whenever I open browsers on smartphone, I'm able to access any kinds of Japanese news but there are tons of news online that I don't know which to pick and focus on reading to be updated about the social situations in Japan.
However, about half a years ago, I discovered one of the news-sharing apps where interesting Japanese news has been already picked up for me.

This application is getting famous among the people of high status in Japan. "ソーシャル経済ニュースメディア" means "social economics news media", hence news shared on this app mainly pertains to technology, business, politics and economics, finance and markets and so on.
The reason why I like this app is that most of the news shared is that picked and shared by individuals; any user can pick up any news and share the news with a comment . As a result, this app has been filled with interesting news for me as an individual.
Also on this app you can follow other users whom you like and can view the news only shared by users that you are following on タイムライン(timeline). I think I've come to save time to when searching for popular Japanese news since I knew of this application. I really love the idea that everyone can share news they like and comment on it. I think all of the news have been filtered by individuals and shared with common sense.
"But NewsPicks is only used in Japanese right?"
Yes, you are right but as I said you can pick up ANY news on this. So this means we can even share the news in English or any other languages. To use this app, you need to get used to a few Japanese words but only few. Here's how you do it.
1.Go to main page and tap left upper side arrow.
2. Tap the box and pencil the left upper side.
3. Copy and paste the URL of new that you want to share.
4. Post a comment and tap "PICK".
5. Now it's done. You can go back to this page and tap "MY PICKS" and see how it's shared.
This is how it works. So if you are interested, just go to Play Store or Apple Store and search by "newpicks" and you can found this app easily. I'll refrain from posting the link of this application to show I am not introducing this app for my own benefit; this is a recommendation based on my own user experience.
