Have you heard the term of ”Black Company”?

There are many Japanese companies in Singapore. Singaporeans who have worked at those companies might have felt bit weird because of its exploitative employment system. Those companies are called "black companies" or in Japanese, "burakku kigyou". This term is used to refer to an unacceptable exploitative employment system.

How is like working at a "Black Company"?

In a "Black Company", employees are working excessive hours with unpaid overtime work and have to put up with abusement of power and harassment of their seniors and employer. It is like an endurance contest.

NewsPicks - Cool News App

Being a Japanese who lives overseas, it's difficult for me to get the latest, hot news of Japan. Of course, whenever I open browsers on smartphone, I'm able to access any kinds of Japanese news but there are tons of news online that I don't know which to pick and focus on reading to be updated about the social situations in Japan.

However, about half a years ago, I discovered one of the news-sharing apps where interesting Japanese news has been already picked up for me.

NewsPciks

This application is getting famous among the people of high status in Japan. "ソーシャル経済ニュースメディア" means "social economics news media", hence news shared on this app mainly pertains to technology, business, politics and economics, finance and markets and so on.

The reason why I like this app is that most of the news shared is that picked and shared by individuals; any user can pick up any news and share the news with a comment . As a result, this app has been filled with interesting news for me as an individual.

The real reason why Japan can maintain high quality services

"I want to live in Japan?" is the phrase that I frequently hear from Singaporeans and other foreigners. However, if I ask them whether they want to work in Japan or not, two typical answers would be thrown back at me. One is "Of course, I wanna work in Japan!" and another,"Nope, I don't wanna work in Japan!" Why this difference? Even though Japanese yen is weakening right now, the cost of living in Japan is still fairly expensive. So living in Japan means working in Japan, unless they are super rich.

Japan is heaven for customers

I guess most of the people who insist they want to work in Japan became a Japanese fan recently or do not understand our culture well. On the other hand, those who understood our culture for a long time tend to reply they don't want to work in Japan.

"Is it really hard and stressful to work in Japan?"

I would say "YES" without a doubt.

Zentai Art Festival. They are not perverts just wearing tights.

2015-06-27This happened in front of Lucky Plaza on 23rd May 2015 that made me to say "Aiyoooo, what's going on!?" Why are they wearing tights? Are they pervers?

They are not perverts but "Zentai"

This is called Zentai Art Festival, organised by Japanese, Yuzuru Maeda.

The concept of this festival is something like, to have no identity and dispensing our roles. We live our lives by taking on roles depending on our gender, age, looks and so on but if we take out those kind of roles by wearing Zentai, we might be able to find something real that we haven't imagined before.

My favorite Singapore food "Fried Oyster" is Shiok.

Many local people ask me if Singapore food is okay and what my favorite Singapore food is. I have asked the same question to my Japanese friends in Singapore but it really depends on individuals even though they are also Japanese. However, in my case, I would say my favorite is definitely "Fried Oyster".

Old Airport Road Food Centre yay

Last Sunday, I joined a language exchange session at a cafe near Mountbatten Mrt station and on the way home, my craving took me to the hawker, Old Airport Road Food Centre.

"Wow this is superb" was the first phrase from my mouth just after I've reached this place as there were 2 Fried Oyster stalls standing beside each other.

Hello Singapore! I am a Japanese in Singapore.

Hello Singapore! I am Xin, an ordinary Japanese who has been working in Singapore. Many people misunderstand me as Chinese because of this name.

f:id:xinsg:20170207141225p:plain

"Xin" is not real my name but I'm using this name online. Most Japanese don't use their real name, not only on blogs but also twitter, Instagram and some other dating apps. So, as a representative of Japanese, I won't use my real name on this blog either.
